People who work in sales are most likely to cheat – with one in 10 Brits (14.5%) admitting to having workplace affairs.
New research, released by Rant Casino, surveyed cheating habits among 3,800 workers across the country.
For those who confessed to being unfaithful, a shocking 24.8% admitted the infidelity started within the workplace – with 21.2% agreeing that the affair flourished at work events such as Christmas dos.
The study also found that women were more likely to cheat on their partners at work – with 52.3% admitting to being unfaithful compared to 45.6% of men.
Looking industry-wide, while sales workers came out on top, they were closely followed by people in the education sector – with 13.7% having cheated.
In third place are healthcare workers with a staggering 12.5% admitting to to having cheated with a colleague – linked to unpredictable hours, overnight emergency shifts and stress.
Transport and logistics workers rank as the fourth most likely to engage in infidelity (9.8%).
Meanwhile, those in the hospitality and events management industry come in fifth place, accounting for 126 cases of infidelity among participants (7.7%).
However, those with partners working in science and pharmaceuticals, business management, and law enforcement can breathe a sigh of relief.
These three professions were deemed the most faithful among all 25 industries surveyed.
Just 0.1% of those working in science and pharmaceuticals admitted to cheating.
A quarter of respondents admitted to flirting with a colleague, and roughly half of that amount went up to having developed romantic feelings.
Almost 13% confessed to having a ‘work wife’ or ‘work husband’.
It has been revealed revealed that those with a work spouse are more prone to confide in them than their actual partners.
However, a shocking 22% were able keep their affair a secret, while 17% admit to being caught in the act.
