A man was amazed to find he had saved an incredible £5,000 after diligently dropping £1 coins into a Coca-Cola bottle for four years.

Kyle Greenwood, hailing from West Yorkshire, shared a video on TikTok showcasing the moment he emptied his savings, which quickly racked up over 1.6 million views.

The 34-year-old explained that he began saving at the onset of the pandemic, unaware of the substantial amount he would eventually accumulate.

“I initially thought the money would go towards a new car or a holiday, but as the amount grew, I decided to use it to help buy a home for me and my partner,” the factory worker told Absolutely Business.

“Staying disciplined was challenging, but I remained committed.

“Many times I considered dipping into the savings, but I stayed focused on my goal of using it for a house deposit.

“My grandad gave me the bottle, and I made it my mission to fill it.”

In the video, fittingly set to Abba’s “Money, Money, Money,” Kyle is seen pouring the coins onto his bed before packing them into several carrier bags.

He then consolidates all the bags into one suitcase and heads to his local NatWest bank.

Kyle and his partner tried to guess the total amount saved, with Kyle estimating £4,651 and his girlfriend Cat guessing £4,855.

After painstakingly feeding multiple bags of coins into a counting machine, the final total amounted to an astonishing £5,005.20.

The video has garnered 69,400 likes and 1,500 comments from viewers.

Esmae joked, “Could just about buy a Freddo.”

Lilianna added, “I’d say there’s at least £1 in there.”

According to Zoopla, the average deposit for a house in the UK is £22,500, but for Kyle, it’s a start.

He said, “My advice to anyone would be to just start saving.

“It’s easy to make plans and then procrastinate.

“But start small and watch it grow.

“For me, it all began with just a £1 coin.”
