A woman has revealed how she turned her passion for fashion into a hugely profitable side hustle – and the secrets she has up her sleeve.

Anna Cash Davidson, who lives in Margate, has always had an interest in fashion.

Thanks to her keen eye, the 27-year-old has been able to monetise her “number one passion” – increasing her profits by 130% in the past three months.

Anna is now revealing where she finds her pieces and her tricks for making more from reselling goods online – including one key tip that has been a game-changer for her.

“I’ve always loved buying vintage and second-hand clothes,” the freelancer, who works in the music industry, told Absolutely Business.

“[But] I would often see great deals on amazing clothing that weren’t my size or that I loved but weren’t quite my style.

“So I started reselling!

“One of the first items I bought to sell was a vintage PVC jacket I bought for £15 and sold for £30.

“Looking back, it could definitely have been worth more but I was just super excited that I had made a profit.”

Anna sells her goods on popular platforms like Depop and Etsy, as well as a website that she set up with her brother to flog-painted vintage clothes.

The highest profit from her side hustle to date is £950 in just one month, while the biggest mark-up was £225 – which she scored on an upcycled £10 jacket from a charity shop.

The biggest secret to her success?

While Anna – like most people – scours charity shops, car boot sales and Facebook Marketplace for bargains, she also buys products in bulk from a vintage wholesaler called Fleek.

She says many people don’t know about this method or are too scared to buy a larger amount of clothes – even though it usually ends up far cheaper per item.

And you also get the added bonus of buyer protection.

As for selling, Anna’s consistency is the key to turning a steady profit, especially on Depop – she uploads new stock every day.

Anna said: “I only ever buy items that I personally love but I also pay attention to trends.

“My whole TikTok For You page is sustainable and second-hand fashion, and I scroll through Depop like it’s a social media platform, so I normally get a sense of what’s going to sell well through that.

“This season it’s all about graphic and funky mesh long-sleeve tops – they’re super versatile as you can layer them up for different weather and dress them up or down.

“I love jackets too – high-quality vintage leather and suede pieces are timeless classics.”

Although Anna makes regular cash now, she admits it has taken some time to build up her business.

She first started reselling in September 2023 but her patience had paid off.

In 2025, Anna is earning so much that she’s able to invest it back into the business and hopes to go full-time with her side hustle soon.

She added: “I try to set aside a couple of afternoons during the week to take photos, edit the photos and draft the listings so I can post them out each day.

“I go to the post office most days on my lunch break.

“I think the best items are when it’s both a popular brand and a trendy style.

“The brand alone normally won’t sell the item if it doesn’t feel current.

“But I have to genuinely like the item, and that’s always the first thing I look for.”

Anna says not to be afraid of making smaller profits, as they do add up over time, and a selection of items at mixed-priced points and profit margins has worked well for her.

She also recommends being extremely reactive to offers for clothes and ensuring that your marketing features good-quality pictures as well as any relevant hashtags and descriptions.
