The owner of The Orchid Steakhouse, Samantha Gangewere, is making a remarkable contribution this Christmas by covering the rent of two families and providing gifts and essentials. Samantha, a model-turned-chef, gained fame for her beef wellington recipe, which she claims surpasses Gordon Ramsay’s.
Boasting two million Instagram followers (@thatboostedchick), the 31-year-old recently fulfilled her dream by opening The Orchid Steakhouse. Drawing inspiration from her family, Samantha, who grew up in a modest household, recalls their tradition of charitable acts during Christmas.
She reminisces about the joy of spending Christmas with hardworking parents and generous grandparents.
Samantha shared, “My family weren’t well off at all, so it was hard to help others, but we always donated to churches and helped give rides to people who needed it.”
“My grandparents were angels when it came to helping, and I’d often ride along with them doing meals-on-wheels and bringing extra snacks to soup kitchens.”
“I absolutely loved Christmas.”
“It was always spent with my parents and grandparents on both sides, but the adults worked so much [over the holidays].”
“The occasion was never about gifts, more so just being with family, which I’m learning even more as I get older.”
Reflecting on the desire to make a positive impact in their community, Samantha Gangewere and her husband, Genc Gashi, have initiated a selfless act. In an Instagram clip garnering 68,000 views, Samantha details the restaurant’s commitment to donate 50% of appetizer sales every Tuesday in December.
The accumulated funds, currently totaling $5,000, will be given to two families in need two days before Christmas. Samantha encourages community participation between 5pm-9.30pm. Families can inquire through social media or Lehigh Valley Food group. Despite the challenges of a cost of living crisis, Samantha expresses gratitude for the opportunity to give back, emphasizing the importance of love during the holiday season.
Acknowledging her fortune, she pledges support to families facing increased financial burdens, influenced by the recent passing of her grandparents. Despite economic challenges, Samantha advocates for spreading love and spending quality time with loved ones during Christmas.
Samantha states, “I usually donate to animals in need all year round and help spread awareness of animal abuse with my platform – but with the extra help of the restaurant, every Christmas we pledge to help two families.”
“Inflation and opening up a restaurant in the middle of a recession is very hard, but I know many families are struggling a lot more than I am.”
“The most important thing to remember around Christmas is to always love each other.”
“Health is wealth, as you never know what tomorrow will bring.”
“Hug your loved ones and spend quality time with them around some delicious home-cooked food.”
